Build an AI chatbot or text assistant with Div-idy
Div-idy can add a working AI chatbot or text assistant to a React app using its built-in AI runtime. Describe the assistant’s task, the information it should use, and the desired response format. You do not need to provide your own API key for built-in AI features.
Give the assistant a specific job
Build a product explainer, writing assistant, summarizer, translator, study helper, or guided idea generator. Define who will use it and what a useful answer looks like. A focused task makes the input fields, instructions, and output easier to evaluate.
A chat layout is optional. A single text area with a Summarize button can be a better fit than a conversation. New React output calls ai.text through Div-idy’s runtime to obtain real generated text.
Ask for the full request experience
- Describe the required inputs and response length.
- Add a clear Send or Generate action.
- Ask for a visible loading state and prevent repeated submissions while the request is running.
- Keep the input on failure and let the visitor choose when to retry.
- If conversation continuity matters, specify how the current conversation should be included and cleared.
AI calls should begin with a deliberate user action. Opening a page, typing each character, or changing a filter should not silently start paid requests.
Example: a workshop assistant
Add an AI assistant to my workshop page. It should answer questions using the workshop facts in AI Context. Keep answers under 120 words and say when the supplied information does not answer the question. Include a message box, Send button, loading indicator, retry control, and Clear conversation button. Preserve the user’s message if a request fails.
Provide the facts the assistant needs
Use the project’s AI tool to save business facts, policies, examples, and response rules in Always-use context. Saving this text gives an existing AI feature reference information; it does not add a chatbot or launch a build.
Context is not automatic web research or unrestricted database access. If the assistant should discuss current published records, ask the generated app to load the appropriate public data and include only the relevant fields in its request.
Test answers and usage
Try a straightforward question, a follow-up, an unanswered question, and an empty input. Verify actual generated replies and visible error handling. Text prompts support up to 12,000 characters; keep included conversation and data concise.
Project AI uses the owner’s AI Tools budget, including visitor requests. Check AI usage and limits and custom context before sharing widely.
