Publishing and sharing
Connect a custom domain to your Div-idy app
Div-idy’s Custom domains controls connect a domain you own to a published project when domain connections are enabled. Use a www address or another subdomain, add the exact DNS records shown in Publishing, and wait for the connection and HTTPS checks to complete.
What do I need before connecting a domain?
Publish the pages visitors should see and check that your Div-idy share link works. Open the project’s Publishing area and find Custom domains. If the controls say connections are unavailable, keep using the share link until the feature is enabled.
You need access to the domain’s DNS settings. Domain registration and DNS can stay with your existing providers. Each hostname connects separately: www.example.com and app.example.com are different addresses.
How do I connect the address?
- Enter the hostname only, such as
www.example.com, withouthttps://or a page path. - Copy the ownership TXT record displayed by Div-idy into your DNS settings.
- Add the displayed CNAME routing record for that hostname. Copy the exact destination rather than another project’s settings.
- Return to Publishing and choose Check connection.
- Wait until the status confirms the connection, then open the HTTPS address and test your live pages.
Ownership, DNS routing, and the HTTPS certificate are separate checks. A pending status means setup is still incomplete; repeatedly re-entering the hostname is not a shortcut.
Which domain addresses work?
The current connection checks require a visible CNAME record. Use www or another subdomain. A bare domain such as example.com, or a flattened record that hides its CNAME, cannot pass this routing check. You can arrange a separate root-domain redirect with your domain provider.
Changing the routing record sends that hostname’s visitors to Div-idy. Choose an unused subdomain if your main website needs to stay where it is.
What appears on the custom domain?
The published Home page appears at the root address; published child pages use their own paths. Draft-only pages remain private. Updates become visible after you publish them, just as they do on the Div-idy share link.
Test forms, navigation, and AI actions on the connected address. Maps or other domain-restricted services may need that hostname approved separately. Use the separate app link for installation; a domain connection alone does not enable that feature.
What happens when I disconnect?
Disconnecting stops access through that custom hostname while preserving the saved project and its Div-idy sharing links. Review the DNS records at your provider afterward. Before renaming or deleting a connected project, disconnect its domains in Publishing.
